Last week (2nd and 3rd July) we organized the fourth workshop as part of the project “Wildlife Watch – increasing capacities for the sustainable use and monitoring of wildlife”. The themes of the workshop were “Invertebrates” and “Botany”. It was attended by thirty representatives of our partners from the public institutions Northern Velebit National Park, Paklenica National Park, Velebit Nature Park, Grabovača Cave Park and the association Lička ekološka akcija.
During the first day the participants learned, through several lectures, about invertebrates in general, monitoring and equipment used in research (dr.sc. Toni Koren, HHD Hyla). Also, Tomislav Hudina (Association BIOM) had a series of lectures about botany in general, monitoring and the most interesting species of plants in the Velebit region. During the first day the participants were also introduced to methods of exploring nocturnal insects.
During the second day, the participants spent a day in Northern Velebit National Park and Velebit Nature Park, on the locations Alan and Lubenovac, and with the help of professional learned how to recognize some plant and insect species.
We would like to thank all participants of the workshop, as well as the Northern Velebit National Park for their hospitality!
