Summer season is behind us and it`s time to enter autumn and new lecture season! First lecture in this season will be about organisms which all of you saw in your lives but maybe some of you never noticed – lichens. People often don`t pay attention to lichens – “dots” on stones and trees, but they hide many exciting and unusual stories. Even though lichen seems like a unique organism, it is in fact a symbiosis of completely different kingdoms. This successful group enables them to inhabit almost all habitats of Earth, survive space experiments or be the core of a new oasis. Who are they actually, what are the secrete bonds they hide and how can we use them to show us air quality? If you want to find out, join us on a lecture next Wednesday, 28th of September 2016 at Biology Department of Faculty of Science, Rooseveltov trg 6, at 6 PM. The lecture will be held by Maja Maslać, a PhD student doing her research on lichens. During her lecture she will also talk about the process of applying for European Social Fund.
The lecture will be held in Croatian.
