Dr Oliver Krone is an author of several research works affirming the harmful effects of lead poisoning in the population of wild birds. His work played a key role in banning the use of lead shot in Europe.
Arriving next week in Croatia,
Dr Oliver Krone is one of the most influential researchers of lead poisoning in wild animals. Dr Krone will hold two live lectures as part of the “Hunter2Hunter” series of lectures organised by the Association Biom, the Public Institution for Nature Protection Međimurje Nature, and the Game and Wildlife Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb.
Oliver Krone, the head of the Parasitology and Toxicology Department of the Berlin Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, will share his wide knowledge and experience in researching lead poisoning and its destructive impact on nature. Dr Krone himself is also a hunter who uses lead-free ammunition.
Dr Oliver Krone authored several research works affirming the harmful effects of lead poisoning in the population of wild birds, and his work was instrumental in achieving the lead shot ban in Europe. Dr Krone has also contributed to numerous European scientific works about lead poisoning and the study of its harmful effects.
The series of lectures titled “Hunter2Hunter: Lead Shot – Nature’s Enemy” (Hunter2Hunter: olovna sačma – neprijatelj prirode) will be held on:
- 2nd November 2023, at 6pm, at the Technology Innovation Centre Medimurje at Čakovec
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone in Međimurje and its wider area to learn more about the issue of lead-based ammunition and its impact on wildlife. The lecture will be held in English, but the Croatian translation will be provided by the public institution Međimurje Nature.
- 3rd November 2023, at 6pm, at the large lecture hall at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb
This is an excellent opportunity for hunters, veterinarians, experts, and followers of modern nature protection systems from the city of Zagreb and the wider Zagreb area to get to know an excellent expert in their field. The lecture will be held in English.
The object of the Hunter2Hunter series of lectures initiative is to raise awareness of hunters, as well as hunting and nature conservation experts, of the key issue – the effect of lead-based ammunition on nature and wildlife. Last year, as part of the same series of lectures,
Dr Niels Kanstrup held an online lecture on more than 30 years of experience in lead-free hunting in Denmark. This year, Dr Oliver Krone will show direct evidence of the impact of lead-based ammunition on the loss of biodiversity.
We invite all interested parties to join these events. We also invite you to share this information and join us in raising awareness and conserving wildlife.
