Association BIOM and Cyclists’ Union are inviting you to be a part of the “Let’s do it: World Cleanup“, which is in Croatia organised by Zelena čistka, on Saturday 18th March at 10 AM.
Let’s join forces and together clean up the mound at the Sava – Odra channel, near the small island where the Association BIOM recently had a volunteer action of restoring a habitat for tern nesting. In addition to birds, this mound is often used by pedestrians and cyclists for recreational purposes. So, bring your working gloves, garbage bags and good will! The Association BIOM will bring a telescope and enable birdwatching, while the Cyclists’ Union will provide music on two wheels.
In order to have a better insight on the number of volunteers, register for the event by sending an email to paula@biom.hr or ivana.saric@biom.hr. Also, follow us on Facebook.
How to get there by bike?
9:15 AM – gathering on Sava bridge
9:30 AM – start
10 AM – the event begins
Public transportation
Use the bus number 112 from the Sava bridge and get out at the last stop in Lučko. The ride is about 15 minutes long and you can find the timetable on this link. We suggest that you take the bus that departs either at 8.45 AM or 9.35 AM.
When you get out of the bus take the first street right and continue to walk to the “Motel Plitvice”. When you get there, walk to the parking lot of the motel and continue along the footbridge until you get to the “Motel Plitvice” petrol station. Behind it you will see a passage through the fence from which you will get to the macadam of the Sava river mound. Walk south and take the first crossroad left and cross the channel. After that take a left and continue to walk north and you will soon get to the location.
By car
If you decide to come to the event by car, the best way is to take Jadranska avenija. After you pass the overpass of the channel, take a right on the first crossroad for Lučko and Stupnik. After that, take a right for Lučko at the first traffic light. After you pass underneath another overpass take a left at the first crossroad and pass over a little bridge which will take you to the channel. Drive along the channel and take a left. Keep driving along the mound for around 2 km and you will get to the location.
