Croatian newspaper ‘Jutarnji list’ called Biom’s volunteers on LIFE Artina project – bird whisperers

Journalists of Croatian daily newspaper Jutarnji list visited Lastovo islands and reported about activities of Biom’s volunteers who care for the sea birds within LIFE Artina project.

An article titled “Lastovo’s bird whisperers”, published in today’s printed edition of Jutarnji list, mentioned huge interest of young volunteers from all around the world who wanted to participate in nature conservation work, although in this particular case it involves climbing sharp and almost inaccessible rocks. “This young people come for education and that is most important, said Biom’s Andreas Engelen for Jutarnji list.


Lastovo islands area is very important in ornithological sense, as Marina Grgić from Biom said in the article. The LIFE Artina project deals with the main problems of the protection of three marine species: the Audouin’s Gull, the Scopoli’s Shearwater and Yelkouan Shearwater. Projekt LIFE Artina started in 2018 and is lead by Association Biom in partnership with BirdLife Malta, Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development Sunce and Public Institution Nature Park Lastovo Islands.
