Organisational structure

The Association Biom is a civil society organisation governed by the governing bodies of that association – the Assembly, the Management Board, the Ethics Committee, and the Executive Director – in accordance with the Statute.

Governing Bodies of the Association

The Assembly is the highest managing body of the Association, and it is comprised of all active (voting) members of Biom. Any member that significantly contributes to the work of the Association in the current year through volunteering, donations, mentoring, or another type of contribution shall become an active member. The Assembly chooses members of the Management Board and the Ethics Committee, adopts decisions on the changes to the Statute, financial statements, activity reports, and other organisational changes. Regular sessions of the Assembly are held once a year.

The Management Board is the highest governing body of the Association in the period between two sessions of the Assembly. The members of the Management Board are chosen and discharged by the Assembly. The Management Board can consist of five to nine members, including the employee representative, who is an ex officio and a non-voting member. The Management Board follows and evaluates the work of executive bodies of the Association, supervises financial and material business activities, adopts decisions on strategic development, and proposes to the Assembly annual financial and programming plans and reports, as well changes to the Statute.

The Ethics Committee is a body that follows and promotes the observance of ethical principles and values established by the Association’s Code of Ethics. It also receives complaints about alleged infringements of the Code of Ethics and reviews their merit.

The proceedings for failure to comply with the Code of Ethics shall be initiated after a written complaint is sent to the following address: eticko.povjerenstvo@biom.hr.

The Executive Director and the Deputy Executive Director are Biom employees to whom operational management of the Association is delegated by the Management Board. The Executive Director shall draw up twice a year a short report on their activities and the activities of the Association for the Management Board.

Operational activities of the Association Biom are organised in departments comprised of experts in different fields, thereby allowing a focused and effective work on nature conservation. Our employees work in the following departments and their programmes:
