BIRD RECOGNITION TRAINING IN NERETVA 2024

The training is free and open to everyone, regardless of prior knowledge. We will provide binoculars and books for bird identification to participants.

Do you enjoy early mornings, while the sun’s rays are still gentle and you can hear the sounds of nature waking up? When you walk through the city or in nature, do you pay attention to the singing of birds? Can you manage to find and see them? Which birds do you most commonly encounter? How do you recognize which species it is? You sit on the balcony, hear the familiar chirping of a bird, and think to yourself, “Look, it’s back! It’s here every year around this time.” If you’re curious about which species it is and about knowing something more about it, as well as other birds you might see in the valley, we’re ready to help. The Biom Association invites interested individuals to participate in bird identification training on the Neretva River. The training will take place over two weekends on May 4th and 5th, and June 1st and 2nd, 2024, in the Neretva Delta area. The training includes one introductory online lecture and two field trips. Participants will have the opportunity to see and learn to identify bird species common in their area, and with a little luck, even those very rare species for which the lagoons at the mouth of the Neretva are known. In the field, we will learn techniques for identifying bird species by appearance and sound. The training is free and open to all regardless of prior knowledge. We will provide binoculars, bird identification books, and expert guidance for participants. The introductory online lecture, where we will get to know each other, will be on May 3rd at 6 p.m. Field trips are scheduled for May 4th and 5th, and June 1st and 2nd, 2024, but the dates are subject to change depending on weather conditions. If you are interested, please fill out the online application form by April 29th, 2024, at the latest.
